To
all and sundry, arise and shine. Wake up to the clarion call, as the class
endowed with intellectuals applauds the glory of the shining stars. In 2012, as
the sun rises and sets, anticipating the birth of an invincible family into an
academic fraternity, the moon was in a cheerful mood, while the sky would not
deny being pregnant the eve it delivered the class of U12MM into the Kin of
great Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
A
class saturated with intellectuals, exhibiting uncommon threats, tied with the
spirit of togetherness, dominating the domain of mass communication department
in terms of academics and social solidarity. Defined and redefined by its
remarkable attainment of success. These exceptional features in a great deal
enthused friendly competitions from our counterparts. But, we always stand out
tall like we were born to lead.
Swimming
in the pool of optimism, class of u12MM is blessed with diverse natural
talents, in fact, at a point; lecturers were awe of our pragmatic dexterity. Every
one of us possesses a structure which invariably constitutes a force that bends
into one another, placing us in the same frame of reference. An indispensable
class composed of self-disciplined and quick-witted students who always take any
available opportunity to tap from the cup of wisdom of their lecturers.
As
seconds blink and days roll out, Class of U12MM was also refurnished and
re-energized with the coming of U13MM DE set. It was on the eve of a special
day in 2014 that this powerful scholarly fraternity was reproduced into the
warmhearted hands of U12MM. They are the ever courageous, amusing and reserved
U13MM DE students. At first, we wanted to be divided along the sentimental line
which is rife in most classes, but it was just a matter of days, we realized
the dividends enjoined when you bring two heads together to form one. Like we
had known and work with each other before, the cordial relationship and
understanding grew bigger. For the publication of this newspaper, we worked
together like an Academic brotherhood; scouting for new stories everywhere like
vultures would scout for carcasses.
Eulogies
are sometimes provocative, but must be showered on those who deserve it. Class
of U12MM/13 DE has brought to you another exciting edition of CAMPUS HERALD
newspaper. Campus herald is a yearly publication; traditionally produce by
300level students of mass communication department.
It
was a memorable journey to say the least. The day the lecturers in-charge were
inaugurating members of the editorial board, prolonged enthusiastic applause
went on air. A sound of victory was heard from afar. The class was fun-filled.
However, as cocks crow and days pass by, our eyes were open to reality,
pointing at the herculean task ahead.
However,
No matter how perfect one can be, you can never be perfect like the creator of
the world himself. In this saddle, we encountered different challenges and
drawbacks in producing a newspaper of this caliber. Getting the audience of
high placed officials to interview, harassment of our reporters by security
agencies when they go out to get news, financial constraint, and particularly,
the time-frame given was short but the zeal to succeed and make our publication
the best among the best kept us moving. To the same degree, the day one of the
lecturers in-charge came to class and announced the deadline date for the
publication to be made gave most of us a sense of defeat but instead of it to
weigh us down, we immediately swing into action and kept reminding ourselves
that perseverance breeds success and that if you must succeed, you must keep
working hard.
Furthermore,
may I seize this golden opportunity to applaud the intellectual and inventive
aptness showcased by members of the editorial team during the compilation, and
editing of the articles which in no small measure chip into the final
production of the newspaper. Accolades must therefore, be given to members of
the editorial board, and the class in general.
I
strongly believe Class of U12MM has pulled down the illusions people built about
it. We have also in all undisputed ramification, strengthened the good
conviction some had about us. We have left no stone unturned in this edition of
campus herald. From the political desk to the economic, fashion, health, food,
science, education, entertainment, culture, agriculture, tourism, cartoon,
sport, crime, and foreign affairs beat, justice was adequately done on them.
Reporters under each desk performed extremely well to see that their desks were
not left out in producing qualitative news articles putting into cognizance
their knowledge of news writing and reporting.
Also,
Due to the fact that the bees and ants and other social insects, despite the
size of their brains, come together to build up hills for shelter and store up
food for abundant for the next season because of the uncertainty in weather
conditions or famine, some qualitative articles were not published, and were
left for other publications. This in a great way depicts how difficult it was
for the editors in the selection of articles to be published as most of the articles
submitted were good enough to go to print. This as well shows that enough
sacrifices were made in the selection of the articles.
Yes!
It’s said that when the lion roars, other animals stay mute. Salutations are subsequently,
due to the lecturers, mallam Jimoh Yusuf who took us the theoretical section
and Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim who took us the practical aspect. These lecturers despite
their busy schedules open up their watery tank of knowledge for us to fetch
from. Both of them are two out of many modest, intelligent, amiable,
broad-minded, plucky and creative lectures the department of mass communication
can boost of. We are like birds in the nest of these intellectuals. More comfort
and geese to their elbows. Also, it will be folly and ungrateful of us if we do
not give special thanks and praises to Almighty God who in his immense blessing
made this publication a success.
As
the demand for fruit of knowledge increases and the venom of ignorance
diminishes, we present to you another exciting, colorful and multifaceted edition
of campus herald. Relax while you enjoy reading
its valuable contents. No communication No society.
